Aquaponics – What is it and how can it feed your family?

Let’s start with, What is Aquaponics?
Aquaponics– is an integrated term derived from Aquaculture which is about growing fish like Tilapia, Catfish, Perch, Trout and Hydroponics which is about growing soilless plants. It is a  system that mutually benefits both environments.
Aquaponics uses no chemicals,  requires 10% of the water needed for field plant production and only a fraction of the water that is used for fish culture.
The waste (largely ammonia) from fish tanks  is pumped to a bio-filter system(usually rocks or clay pebbles treated with natural bacteria) which converts the waste first to nitrite and then to nitrate. Then it gets pumped to the plants as a nutrient solution which is what growing plants need.
The only external input to the system is food for the fish and water added weekly to compensate for what is lost by evaporation and transpiration by the vegetables. Both systems complement each other as a single unit, not as separate units.
Once the system is initialized the water stays Ph balanced and remains crystal clear.

Now, if the food was to run out tomorrow and the grocery store shelves were empty, what would you do? We have talked before about when a natural disaster occurs it is only a matter of hours before store shelves are emptied because people never prepare they panic. With this in mind how would your family survive?
Well  if you had an Aquaponics system set in place at your home, your answer would be – Easily!!!

You can see that as food prices increase the economy decreases, which means people need to find alternative ways to survive. Aquaponics systems can help you to survive, by eating amazingly healthy foods such as fish and vegetables without any chemical additives.

Countries all around the world are burning foods like corn and sugar as fuel sources. Millions of people around the world are hungry or starving and we are burning our food. It is now estimated that there is only one farmer left per one hundred people. With these kinds of statistics in mind, the time is now to learn an alternative way to grow your own survival foods, like Aquaponics.

The possibility of surviving without enormous food bills should have the average family salivating at the opportunity to learn more about Aquaponics.
Make 2012 the year that you learn to become more self-sufficient, learn about healthy survival food supplies and Aquaponics systems, that can prepare your family for what ever may come.
