How to make a shooting table from spare parts.

Hey guys!

I have been wanting for a while to build a good shooting table for when I need to zero my rifles for hunting season. Well today, after looking at what I had laying around the house, I built one for $0.00. That’s right I said zero. Here’s your build instructions.

Tools

tape measure

Framers square

Drill with drill bits large enough for your bolts

sawzall with metal cutting blade

Jig saw

Wrenches that fit the bolts

Screw driver

Materials

Metal table legs

4′ x 4′ piece of plywood 5/8″ thick

metal shelf brackets

1/2″ wood screws

3 – 2 1/2″ bolts and lock nuts.

I had one of those outdoor glass top picnic tables that had the glass broken. You can sometimes find them on Craigslist for cheap.

Use a sawzall to remove one of the legs so it would look like this. A hack saw with a metal cutting blade will work too.

Then take a 5/8″ thick, 4’x4′ piece of plywood and draw out this design. You can use OSB (oriented strand board) if that is what you have.

Cut it out with a jig saw.

Next drill a hole in the table legs and into the plywood piece then bolt the two together.  Add some shelf brackets for added support and screw them to the table top as well. Mine worked out to where I could also attach them to the table legs using bolts already on the legs.

I also rounded the corners but you don’t have to. The reason I like this design is it works for both left and right handed shooters. I will be treating the plywood since it will be outdoors and I’ll  post a pic update when that’s done.
