Gun Fact- “Shrapnel”

The term “shrapnel” has been lent to fragmentation from artillery shells, grenades and bullets since the invention of the “spherical case”  hollow cannon ball. It  was filled with lead shot that burst in mid-air. The inventors name was Major General Henry Shrapnel, a British Army officer and inventor.
